Motifs

Since 1978, through her investigative work with sound and music, Arden Wilken has identified over 50 motifs that have their own distinctive healing influences. The motifs form the basis of the Inner Sound series of cassettes and CDs.

In musical terms, a motif is a short musical phrase made up of several notes that create a distinctive rhythmic pattern.

INNER SOUND motifs have a simple musical structure using a variety of scales including the pentatonic (five-note scale), some of the Greek modes and the Western diatonic scale.

INNER SOUND is a sound healing system based on relative movement.

* The motifs help areas in your system to remember their basic movement of expansion or contraction, whichever is necessary.

* Depending on which instruments are used to play the motifs, aspects of you are touched-whether mental, emotional, physical or energetic.

* INNER SOUND motifs can help you create movement and change regardless of where you may be in your personal development.

* INNER SOUND does not propose an external structure of how you should be or act or in what direction you should develop, it simply helps liberate trapped or blocked energy.

* The liberated energy, combined with the movement generated by the motifs, creates enough impetus to overcome the inertia of your present state so that you are able to make the changes you may want to make.

How Sound Heals

Sound energy, in the form of mechanical waves, is transformed, as it enters through the ear, into electrical impulses, which travel through the network of connective tissue to all parts of the body. The systems of the body, whose resonant quality matches the motifs used, respond through sympathetic resonance.
