Below you will
find a summary of the modules that
this training incorporates:
Introduction to Sound Therapy
(a pre-requisite for the Practitioner
Certificate training) This module
introduces a range of different
experiences to help broaden your
perspective on the role sound and
music play in your life. It takes
you on a musical journey through
the ages; it gives you the opportunity
to share your favourite piece of
music with the group; it provides
an overview of different types of
sound used in sound healing &
their harmonic structure; it touches
on all the elements that are a part
of INNER SOUND - including the voice.
We ask you to bring along your favourite
piece of music on CD to the course.
Module 1 - How Sound Heals
- the first of our theory-based
modules which includes the following
topics: physics of sound; effect
of sound on the biological functions
of the body; effect of sound on
the physiology of the body; effect
of sound on the nervous system (Psychoacoustic)
Module 2 - Theory of Emotion
- the second of our theory-based
modules which includes the following
topics: theory and function of emotions;
effect of sound on the emotions;
field theory; acoustic and electronically
produced sounds; where different
instruments resonate.
Module 3 - SOUND TOUCH -
A motif is a specific melody or
musical note progression. Arden
Wilken has identified over 50 different
motifs in her ongoing investigation
with sound & music, that promote
the body's ability to heal itself.
A Life Theme represents a combination
of several motifs working with one
of 12 themes common to the human
experience. This module introduces
the SOUND TOUCH CD containing 21
of the INNER SOUND motifs and 12
Life Themes together with their
therapeutic benefits & enhancement
exercises. Topics: 21 musical motifs
and exercises: 12 Life Themes and
exercises: practical sessions with
SOUND TOUCH; how to use our SOUND
TOUCH CD as a complement or stand-alone
therapy.
Module 4 - Listening Programs
I - A detailed introduction
to the use of each of the 17 titles
within the INNER SOUND range which
have been specifically composed
as therapeutic music. The CDs can
be combined to create Listening
Programs and this module introduces
what an INNER SOUND Listening Program
is; a complete listing of the Themes
and Symptoms for the Body, Mind,
Emotions and Energetic that they
can be used for; and an introduction
to the Enhancement Exercises that
are recommended to accompany each
CD to develop & integrate their
effect.
Module 5 - Evaluation Tools
- We introduce various ways you
can determine which music will be
most appropriate for your clients
to use - from Interview and observations;
from Iris Interpretation; from Body
Reading and from Personal use.
We introduce 5 distinct body modes
to help you identify different combinations
of growth patterns in the body,
based on Wilhelm Reich's Character
Structures. The Iris interpretations
are based on the Rayid method of
iridology which relates structural
patterns in the eye to modes of
communication, learning and behavior.
Module 6 - The Interview Process
(Listening Programs II) - How to
use the information provided by
your clients to create a Listening
Program individually tailored to
their needs. The Interview Process
incorporates both interview &
observation using the assessment
tools covered in the previous module
and the student's own personal experience
of the music, drawing on an extensive
program of personal listening required
as part of your home study. Case
study examples form part of the
teaching materials.
Topics include: Listening Goals;
Creation of an ongoing process with
music by the client; How to describe
the therapy process and listening
goals to the client; How to conduct
an interview and session; How to
apply the music (Recommendations
for professional audio equipment
and how to use it).
Module 7- Client-Practitioner
Relationship - developing effective
communications with your clients;
identifying client behavior patterns
and how to work with them; code
of ethics and professional attitude;
review of equipment. Student home
study material is used to illustrate
teaching examples.
Module 8- Summary & Personal
Assessment - A review of all
course material; review of your
action plan for the training. Students
participate in an informal group
discussion on a 'question &
answer' basis, demonstrating their
understanding of the theoretical
principles, assessment methods &
application of the INNER SOUND tools.
