INNER SOUND
Set of 13 Spiral of Fifths Tuning Forks

Inner Sound Tuning Forks

Introduction:

The INNER SOUND Tuning Forks are a precision made set of 13 aluminum forks manufactured in the USA to the specifications of INNER SOUND. They are tuned in an ascending spiral of pure 5th intervals. (The upper tone of this interval is 1.5 times the frequency of the lower tone.)

The perfect 5th interval is the second most important ratio after the octave in the harmonic series. In more classical music theory, the interval of the fifth relates to man's spiritual ascension towards God as the frequencies ascend in a spiraling effect.

Linear / non linear harmonics

The harmonic series (linear) are overtones that are produced naturally by most musical instruments. Any instrument that produces linear harmonics produces overtones which are all whole number ratios of the fundamental (original note) or the note sounded or played. (If you play an 'A', which measures 110Hz, the first overtone will measure at 220Hz, which is also an 'A'. Each successive overtone will be a multiple of the original 110Hz.

Instruments exhibiting linear characteristics are typically used for harmonizing, balancing and aligning and to promote life's most fundamental movement of expansion and contraction: strings, woodwinds, brass and the human voice.

The non-linear spectrum are instruments whose sound produce non-linear ratios. Typically, these encompass different percussion instruments which, in healing, are used for breaking structures, opening or dissolving blockages. These include Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, cymbals, drums and the digeridoo.

It is worth mentioning here that the piano exhibits characteristics of both linear and non-linear harmonics because it is both a string instrument and it is hammered as opposed to plucked. For this reason, it should be considered in a separate category.

Sine Waves

Tuning forks are designed to emit a pure tone (sine wave). A sine wave is created by a simple back and forth movement over the whole length of the tuning fork. This is quite easy to control as opposed to any more complex vibrating system. For example, a string will divide itself into a number of separate vibrating segments and therefore produce multiple harmonics.

Tuning forks can be manufactured to reproduce specific frequencies. They are so precise that their normal use is to give a reference tone. They are used in many areas of medicine as well as in music for this reason.

Why Aluminium?

The characteristics of aluminum best cover the wide range of frequencies offered in the Inner Sound Tuning Forks.

The healing effect of tuning forks comes from our body's ability to respond to their pure sound. They provide an overall attunement of the body, which, in turn, promotes flexibility within the nervous system.

The starting point of the series was derived from the frequency of the Schumann Earth Cavity, 7.865Hz, which is the resonance of the planet. This is well below the hearing threshold that normally does not extend below 20Hz. The first tuning fork in the series has a frequency of 31.46Hz, which is exactly 2 octaves above the Schumann Earth Cavity resonance. This is the first multiple of that frequency that registers within our hearing threshold.

Effect:

Using the tuning forks as recommended in our instructions, supplied with each set, produces an organized movement of expansion and contraction - a wave - throughout the body. This happens at many levels helping to balance and tune the body at a gross and subtle level.

The INNER SOUND tuning forks also activate the relaxation reflex by discharging static energy in the nervous system.

The following is the ascending order and recommended combination the forks should be used in:

1st pair 31Hz and 47Hz
2nd pair 47Hz and 71Hz
3rd pair 71Hz and 106Hz
4th pair 106Hz and 159Hz
5th pair 159Hz and 239Hz
6th pair 239Hz and 358Hz
7th pair 358Hz and 538Hz
8th pair 538Hz and 806Hz
9th pair 806Hz and 1209Hz
10th pair 1209Hz and 1814Hz
11th pair 1814Hz and 2721Hz
12th pair 2721Hz and 4082Hz

Then follow with descending pairs to finish the treatment:

9th pair 806Hz and 1209Hz
5th pair 159Hz and 239Hz
3rd pair 71Hz and 106Hz
1st pair 31Hz and 47Hz

Specific ways to play the forks using some of the INNER SOUND motifs will be taught in training offered through the School for Inner Sound to create healing effects on different systems in the body.
