"I have been successfully using INNER SOUND tuning forks in group meditation classes for over 2 years. They allow participants to move quickly and easily into deep states of relaxation when used in guided meditations. They also are a wonderful preparation for sitting meditation, helping an individual or group to enter into alpha wave production in a shorter period of time. Thanks for the great tool!"

"I had a very persistent nerve pain in my head when I saw you on Sunday and although I had suffered with it for almost a week it was getting worse and more regular. However, after the treatments that you and I gave myself on Sunday, by the end of the evening it had almost completely gone, and had actually gone by the following morning. I was so pleased because it was disturbing my sleep - apart from causing me a lot of discomfort during the day.

What to expect from an INNER SOUND Tuning fork Treatment?

Our tuning forks are used by a growing number of practitioners from a diverse field of complementary therapies - from many different types of body massage to several forms of subtle energy balancing including reflexology, aromatherapy, crystal healing and Reiki.

The effect of our tuning forks is perhaps most dynamic when used on their own as a form of sound therapy. People are always surprised at how quickly the harmonious pure tones of our Spiral of Fifths forks promote a state of deep relaxation that works on all levels - mental, physical, emotional & spiritual.

What is a Tuning Fork Treatment?

An Inner Sound tuning fork treatment is non-invasive in the sense that neither the practitioner nor our tuning forks touch your body during a session. The forks are vibrated in pairs in a sequential order of ascending and then descending tones. Each pair is held with one fork on either side of your head near your ears. They are held there for a period of time and then the practitioner draws them away, switches forks to the opposite hands, re-activates them, allowing the sounds they produce to gradually relax you.

You are asked to close your eyes to enhance the overall effect. You are not expected to actively listen and even if you hearing is impaired by age or nerve damage you will still benefit from the subtle vibratory movement they create in the body. If you wear a hearing aid, we advise you to remove it during treatment.

Each pair of forks is tapped on a soft rubber block, making very little audible noise. Once placed near your ears the soft melodic tones become clearly audible. The forks are kept at a safe distance from your ears to avoid any over-sensitivity or reaction to the sounds.

How Sound Travels in the Body

As the tuning forks gently vibrate, their pure tones pass through the ear activating the hearing mechanism - arguably the most important of your five senses - producing subtle and imperceptible movement of the cranial bones, which allow sound waves to pass directly through the cerebrospinal fluid.

Sound travels rapidly through the body from the surface of the skin to the cellular level utilizing the body's own 'information highway' - the connective tissue - to create a global response, sympathetically resonating to the spectrum of sounds being produced.

The incremental effect of such an organized movement, as each pair of tuning forks is sounded, encourages a harmonizing & balancing of the body's own dynamic movement throughout the whole body, resulting in a gentle release of tension in a completely integrated and holistic way.

No mess, No fuss

Tuning fork treatments can be given to a client seated in a comfortable chair or laying down on a bed or massage table. No oil or lotion is used, so there is no need to remove any clothing, except perhaps your shoes to make you more comfortable.

A typical session involves a short interview prior to treatment so the practitioner can be made aware of any existing symptoms or conditions, medical treatment or hearing impairment. The practitioner may also ask to look at the patterns in the colored part of your eye to determine whether they contain any structural features that indicates a degree of sensitivity to stress. We use this as an indicator of how your system may respond to the treatment and adjust the activation time accordingly.

How Long Does a Session Last?

Treatment with Inner Sound tuning forks is an incremental process and so the first few sessions may seem surprisingly short to you - only 10 or 15 minutes. Each pair of forks may be sounded for as little as 10 seconds per pair yet still create an effective relaxation treatment. Within a reasonably few number of regular visits, it might be safe to extend the activation time to as much as 1 minute per pair, increasing your treatment time to 45 minutes or an hour - a truly enjoyable experience.

The effect of the treatments can last for several days after the day of the session. Most clients report sleeping more deeply than normal on the night of the session and reactions can range from tiredness for a day or two then renewed vitality to a spontaneous 'cleansing' of toxins and an increase in elimination.

We always encourage you to drink plenty of fluid - preferably water - directly before and after the treatment and for 24 - 48 hours afterwards. Increasing the fluid content of the body's tissue eases the impact of any adjustments the body makes in releasing toxins or rebalancing the system as a result of treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

This is a little like asking 'how long is a piece of string?' It depends how long you've been experiencing tension and what symptoms your body has developed as a result of the stress. Generally clients start to notice an improvement in five or six sessions and may decide to continue for longer to work specifically on different themes.

It is important that your body is given sufficient time to 'acclimatize' to the effect that the tuning forks create in order for you to really benefit from the experience to the maximum that your body is able. Your experiences of the treatments can be varied in themselves - ranging from tingling or twitches as the body releases tension involuntarily, to imagery & color, a dream-like state of deep relaxation and even an emotional release. It is not uncommon for clients to fall asleep quickly and deeply once they become accustomed to the sounds. This is a positive sign that the body recognizes the relaxation response they produce and that it can enter easily into a self-regulatory healing state in which your balances & regenerates itself.
